Unlicensed Point-to-Point Service
Unlicensed Point-to-Point Service provides a dedicated microwave link between the customer premises and the Gatespeed network backbone.
Each link is custom engineered for maximum performance. A typical link consists of a low-latency full-duplex 8 Mbps radio pair operating at 5.3-5.8 GHz plus 1-3 foot diameter dish antennas at each end, the antenna size depending on the distance to the Gatespeed point-of-presence. Higher-speed unlicensed radios are also available.
Gatespeed participates in the SF BANC frequency coordination organization, in order to maximize the use of the unlicensed 5 GHz spectrum and minimize the risk of interfering signals.
Unlicensed Point-to-Point Service can be installed quickly, as there is no need to wait for FCC licensing or the installation of telephone company circuits. The process begins by contacting Gatespeed for a site survey.

Notes
- *Additional installation charges may apply for special engineering.
- Installation includes radios, antennas, and the port at the Gatespeed POP. The interface provided is Ethernet. The customer is responsible for providing (or purchasing from Gatespeed) a compatible router. All equipment included with the installation remains the property of Gatespeed.
- Listed Connection and Committed Bandwidth prices are for a 12-month term commitment. The maximum available instantaneous bandwidth between the customer premises and the Gatespeed network is limited by the radio speed.
- Bandwidth used is measured as the 95th percentile level usage over 5-minute periods.
- Burst bandwidth is defined as the measured bandwidth minus the included and committed bandwidth, rounded up to the next whole megabit/second.
- Backup service is only available if another Internet connection is already installed at the customer location.
