Gatespeed Network Backbone

Gatespeed operates its own microwave network backbone linking Loma Prieta, Mt. Umunhum, Mt. Allison, and Portola Valley to an Equinix data center in San Jose. From the Equinix site, Gatespeed has both Internet transit connectivity and direct peering with ISPs and content providers.

Connected to these backbone sites are direct customer connections and links to secondary hilltop and building-top access points, from which multipoint services are provided.

Future Plans

Near-term planning for the network backbone includes reactivating the Gatespeed backbone location on Black Mountain above Los Altos Hills, and connecting at the Palo Alto Internet Exchange (PAIX).
